چکیده

Abstract Compliant mechanisms (CMs) have presented its inherently advantageous properties due to the fact that CMs utilize elastic deformation of elementary flexible members transfer motion, force, and energy. Previously, classic Euler–Bernoulli beam theory is most used in terms modeling large deflections CMs. However, it has some assumptions may decrease accuracy, such as ignoring shear strain axial cross sections. In this article, take into account strains, we adopt Timoshenko along with modifications consider elongation. To simplify complexity proposed governing boundary value problem (BVP), transform BVP an explicit formulation use weighted residual methods numerically approximate solution. We first focus on single-beam deflection a straight initially curved (ICB) using theory, solid mechanics analyze contributions influences strains deflections. Then, prove feasibility strategy via mechanism synthesis for bi-stable ICB-based parallelogram mechanism. Finally, deduction mathematical model numerical results are provided brief analysis mechanical performances studied

Dynamic Stability of Nano FGM Beam Using Timoshenko Theory

Based on the nonlocal Timoshenko beam theory, the dynamic stability of functionally gradded (FG) nanoeams under axial load is studied in thermal environment, with considering surface effect. It is used power law distribution for FGM and the surface stress effects are considered based on Gurtin-Murdoch continuum theory. Using Von Karman geometric nonlinearity, governing equations are derived bas...

Large and small deflections of a cantilever beam

"Large and small deflections of a cantilever beam".Large and small deflections of a cantilever beam". ABSTRACT The classical problem of deflection of a cantilever beam of linear elastic material, under the action of an external vertical concentrated load at the free end, is analyzed. We present the differential equation governing the behaviour of this physical system and show that this equation...

The second spectrum of Timoshenko beam theory—Further assessment

A review of contributions and views on the second spectrum of Timoshenko beam theory (TBT) over the past two decades, together with some new results, are presented. It is shown that the Timoshenko frequency equation factorises not solely for hinged–hinged end conditions, as is often claimed, but also for guided–guided and guided–hinged; these new cases may be regarded as portions of a multi-spa...

Comparing Timoshenko Beam to Energy Beam for Fitting Noisy Data

In this paper we develop highly flexible Timoshenko beam model for tracking large deformations in noisy data. We demonstrate that by neglecting some physical properties of Timoshenko beam, classical energy beam can be derived. The comparison of these two models in terms of their robustness and precision against noisy data is given. We demonstrate that Timoshenko beam model is more robust and pr...
